Fun Factory Wooden Cuisenaire Rods

Fun Factory Wooden Cuisenaire Rods

These rods have been manufactured based on the original cuisenaire system developed by Belgian school teacher Georges Cuisenaire and brought to Australasia by his cousin Gerome Gattegnos. Mr Cuisenaires theory of using 'hands on' prompts to enhance children's understanding of the four basic operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division is still highly regarded by many.

The concept of using a system whereby children can manipulate the pieces of their problems, visually grasp the relationships between the components of their problems and identify number values very readily is being used as a valuable learning tool by parents today. These rods meet the needs of what Cuisenaire believed to be essential for developing children's mathematical skills. They are a self explanatory and vivid system providing concrete materials to develop understanding.

Features: Boxed set of 300 pieces of Cuisenaire Rods of varying sizes, representing different numbers. The sequence of colours from 1 to 10 are: white, red, light green, pink, yellow, dark green, black, brown, blue, orange. The lengths of the rods are in proportion, eg: a red '2' is twice as long as a white '1'.
